Preparation
- Form the ground beef into four equal patties and season generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add onion slices and cook until caramelized and softened; set aside.
Cooking
- Place burger patties in the hot skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with cheddar cheese and cover the pan to help it melt.
- Lightly toast the burger buns.
Assembly
- Assemble the burgers by spreading BBQ sauce on the bottom bun, adding lettuce, then the cheeseburger patty, bacon, caramelized onions, and a tomato slice; top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra kick, add a pinch of smoked paprika to the ground beef before forming patties.
