  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 3-4 garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper optional
  • ½ cup chicken or vegetable broth

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until softened for 5-7 minutes; then add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Cooking
  1. Add ground turkey to the skillet, break it up, and cook until browned for 8-10 minutes, draining excess fat if needed.
  2. Stir in salt, pepper, smoked paprika, oregano, and cayenne pepper, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan to deglaze.
Finishing
  1. Bring to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 5-7 minutes to meld flavors.
  2. Remove from heat, let cool completely, and divide into 7 equal portions.
