  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper or more, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Ensure unsalted butter is at room temperature for easy mixing and a smooth consistency.
  2. Finely chop fresh parsley and chives, and mince the garlic cloves. Chop thyme or rosemary if using.
  3. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the softened butter.
  4. Add chopped parsley, chives, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, red pepper flakes, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce to the butter.
  5. Mix all ingredients thoroughly with a fork or rubber spatula until well combined and uniform in color, ensuring even distribution of herbs and spices.
  6. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, adjusting as needed.
  7. Transfer the cowboy butter to a small serving bowl; it's ready to use immediately.

Notes

For best results, use fresh ingredients. This butter can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Let it come to room temperature before serving.
