  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 unbaked pie crust (9-inch)
Optional Toppings
  • diced tomatoes
  • pickles
  • crispy bacon bits
  • sesame seeds

Equipment

  • oven
  • pie plate
  • large skillet
  • medium bowl
  • whisk

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate.
Cooking the Filling
  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium-high heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened, then drain excess grease.
  2. Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper, cooking for another minute, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Assembling the Pie
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, mayonnaise, eggs, and flour until smooth.
  2. Add 3/4 cup of cheddar cheese and all of the Monterey Jack cheese to the beef mixture, then pour in the milk-egg mixture and stir gently until combined.
  3. Spoon the cheeseburger filling evenly into the unbaked pie crust and sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
Baking and Serving
  1. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set, and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the pie cool for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For an extra kick, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the beef mixture. If desired, you can prepare the beef and onion mixture a day in advance to save time on busy weeknights.
