Ingredients
  

Meatloaf
  • 1.5 lbs Ground Beef lean ground beef works well here to prevent excessive grease
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs plain or panko, for binding
  • 1 large Egg to help hold everything together
  • 1/4 cup Milk adds moisture
  • 1/2 small Onion finely chopped (essential for flavor)
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup plus extra for topping (the classic glaze!)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce adds depth of flavor
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • red pepper flakes Pinch (Optional: for an extra kick)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet or shallow baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  3. Stir in 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until combined.
Mixing and Baking
  1. Add ground beef, breadcrumbs, and finely chopped onion to the bowl with wet ingredients.
  2. Gently mix with your hands until just combined, forming an oblong loaf on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Spread an additional 2-3 tablespoons of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the top is caramelized.
Resting
  1. Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute for a more tender and moist meatloaf.

Notes

For best results, avoid overmixing the meatloaf mixture to ensure a tender texture. You can also add finely diced bell peppers or grated carrots for extra flavor and nutrients.
