Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 fillets Salmon Fillets about 6 oz each, skin-on recommended
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil or high-smoke point oil like avocado oil
  • ½ teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper freshly ground or to taste
  • 1 Lemon for serving (optional, but highly recommended)
  • Fresh Dill or Parsley for garnish (optional)

Equipment

  • Paper Towels
  • Large, Heavy-Bottomed Skillet (cast iron or stainless steel)

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Place salmon skin-side down in the hot pan, pressing gently for 30 seconds to ensure even contact. Cook for 4-6 minutes until the skin is golden brown and crispy.
  4. Flip the salmon and cook for another 2-4 minutes until cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Transfer salmon to plates, then optionally squeeze fresh lemon juice over each fillet and garnish with fresh dill or parsley.

Notes

Ensure the pan is hot enough before adding salmon to achieve crispy skin. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
