  • rolling pin
  • cookie cutter
  • wire rack

Method

Baking Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, ensuring everything is well combined.
  3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms.
  5. Flatten the dough, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Roll out chilled dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut shapes with cookie cutters.
  8. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the dough. Chilling the dough is essential to prevent excessive spreading during baking and helps achieve that perfect soft texture. You can decorate these cookies with your favorite icing and sprinkles once completely cooled.
