Method
Prepare the Beef
- Pat the thinly sliced sirloin steak dry with paper towels then season generously with salt and black pepper.
Sear the Beef
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Sear the beef in batches for 1-2 minutes per side until browned, then remove and set aside.
Sauté Aromatics and Vegetables
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan and sauté minced garlic and grated ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add broccoli florets and bell pepper, stir-frying for 3-5 minutes until crisp-tender, then add mushrooms and cook for 2 more minutes.
Build the Sauce
- Pour in beef broth and tamari/liquid aminos, bringing to a simmer while scraping up any browned bits. Optionally, add sesame oil and red pepper flakes.
Combine & Finish
- Return the seared beef to the pan and toss with the sauce and vegetables. Cook for 1-2 minutes until heated through, avoiding overcooking to keep the beef tender.
Serve
- Transfer the stir-fry to serving plates and garnish with cilantro, green onions, or sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Adjust spice level with red pepper flakes to your preference. For an even quicker meal, use pre-cut broccoli florets and pre-minced garlic.
