  • 1 cup red grapes

  • 1/2 cup kiwi, sliced and quartered
  • 1/2 cup cantaloupe or honeydew melon balls
  • 1 slice pineapple or firm mango (for star topper)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice 1-2 inches off the bottom of the watermelon to create a stable base, then stand it upright.
  2. Carve the watermelon into a rough cone or Christmas tree shape, removing the green rind and some pink flesh to leave a substantial "trunk."
Assembling the Tree
  1. Place toothpicks into the watermelon "tree" and skewer green grapes onto them to cover the surface, forming a leafy base.
  2. Add colorful "ornaments" by spearing red grapes, blueberries, melon balls, and kiwi pieces onto toothpicks and attaching them evenly to the watermelon.
  3. Cut a star from a pineapple slice or firm mango using a star-shaped cookie cutter and attach it securely to the top with toothpicks.
  4. Fill any noticeable gaps with extra grapes or small fruit pieces.
Chilling
  1. Refrigerate the Watermelon Christmas Tree for at least 30 minutes before serving.
