Ingredients

Crostini
  • 1 baguette
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for bruschetta
Mushroom Topping
  • 1 pound cremini mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Large skillet

Method

Prepare Crostini
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet, drizzle with 2 tablespoons olive oil, and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden and crisp.
Cook Mushrooms
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced mushrooms and cook for 8-10 minutes until browned and their liquid has been released.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in balsamic vinegar and maple syrup, then simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce reduces and thickens, coating the mushrooms.
  4. Mix in the chopped fresh thyme leaves and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Assemble and Serve
  1. Spoon a generous amount of the balsamic glazed mushrooms onto each toasted baguette slice.
  2. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can rub a cut garlic clove over the toasted baguette slices before adding the mushroom topping.
