Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Spread the pecan halves evenly in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Cooking
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat, stirring constantly until dissolved and boiling. Continue to boil for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Carefully pour the hot butter-sugar mixture evenly over the pecans, ensuring they are well coated.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the topping is bubbly and fragrant, and the pecans are lightly toasted.
Cooling and Serving
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and cool completely on a wire rack for 1-2 hours, or refrigerate for 30-45 minutes to speed up cooling.
- Once thoroughly cooled and hardened, lift the parchment paper to remove the bark, then break it into irregular pieces and serve.
Notes
For best results, use fresh pecans. Be careful when handling the hot sugar mixture as it can cause burns. This bark makes a wonderful homemade gift!
