Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, incorporating each fully before adding the next, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the crushed Oreo cookies and Valentine’s Day M&M’s until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- For best results, cover and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours, to prevent spreading.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chilling the dough is an optional but highly recommended step for better cookie texture and to prevent excessive spreading.
