Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb Large shrimp, peeled & deveined (16-20 count)
  • 8 oz Thinly sliced turkey breast (deli style)
Brown Sugar Glaze
  • ½ cup Light brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup Low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Freshly grated ginger
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp Rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 (optional) Sesame oil optional
  • ¼ (optional) Red pepper flakes optional
Other
  • 1 Tbsp Neutral oil (vegetable or canola)
  • Pinch Freshly ground black pepper
  • Garnish Chopped scallions, toasted sesame seeds, lime wedges optional

Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Whisk
  • Large non-stick skillet
  • Tongs or spatula

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the shrimp dry and cut the turkey slices in half. Wrap each shrimp with a piece of turkey, starting from the tail and working your way up.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, ginger, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using) until the sugar is dissolved.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat with neutral oil. Once hot, add the turkey-wrapped shrimp in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  2. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side until the turkey is golden brown and the shrimp are pink and cooked through. Season lightly with black pepper.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, pour the prepared brown sugar glaze over the shrimp, and toss gently to coat. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly and coats the shrimp.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped scallions, toasted sesame seeds, and lime wedges if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the shrimp in a small amount of soy sauce and ginger for 15 minutes before wrapping. Adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
