Preparation
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat, then drain excess grease. Stir in taco seasoning and water, simmer for 5-7 minutes until liquid evaporates.
- If using corn tortillas, warm them slightly by microwaving or dipping in warm water to prevent cracking.
Assembly and Baking
- Lay a tortilla flat, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of cheese on one half, and top with 2-3 tablespoons of seasoned meat. Fold the tortilla to form a taco shape.
- Arrange folded tacos snugly in the baking dish, standing them upright, and repeat with remaining tortillas and filling. Sprinkle remaining shredded cheese generously over the tops of the tacos.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until tortillas are lightly crispy and cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly browned.
Serving
- Carefully remove tacos from the oven, let cool for a minute or two, and serve hot with your favorite toppings.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can toast the tortillas lightly in a dry skillet before assembling. Feel free to customize with your favorite cheese blends and toppings!
