- Using a 2-3 inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut heart shapes from each slice of bread.
- Spread softened butter generously on one side of each bread heart.
- Place a cheese slice on the unbuttered side of half the bread hearts, then top with another bread heart, buttered-side up.
- Cook the mini sandwiches in a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately while the grilled cheese hearts are warm and the cheese is gooey.
Notes
For extra fun, sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder or paprika on the buttered side before grilling. These also make great party appetizers!
