  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2-3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 lemon for juice and optional zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more, to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Paper towels

Method

Preparation
  1. Thaw and pat dry frozen shrimp, then season with salt, black pepper, and half of the red pepper flakes.
Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add seasoned shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  2. Remove shrimp and set aside, then reduce heat to medium and melt butter in the same pan.
  3. Add minced garlic and remaining red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Squeeze in lemon juice, stir well to scrape up browned bits, then return shrimp to the pan and toss to coat.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of lemon zest along with the lemon juice. This dish pairs wonderfully with pasta or crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
