  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon gochujang (Korean chili paste), optional

  • Green onions sliced, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned, draining excess fat afterward.
  2. While beef cooks, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and optional gochujang in a small bowl until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Pour the sauce over the browned beef, bring to a simmer, and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
  4. Divide cooked rice among serving bowls and top with the Korean ground beef mixture.
  5. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds; add optional toppings like shredded carrots, kimchi, or a fried egg before serving.

Notes

Adjust gochujang to your preferred spice level. For a complete meal, serve with a side of steamed vegetables.
