  • 1.5 cups Heavy Cream
  • 12 ounces Dark Chocolate finely chopped (70% cacao recommended)
  • 0.25 cup Granulated Sugar to taste
  • 1.5 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • Salt A tiny pinch

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Finely chop the dark chocolate into smaller pieces for even and quick melting, then set it aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream.
  3. Gently heat the milk and cream over medium heat until steaming around the edges, stirring occasionally, but do not let it boil.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat, add the chopped chocolate, and let it sit for 2-3 minutes to soften.
  5. Whisk gently from the center outwards until all the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  6. Stir in the granulated sugar (starting with ΒΌ cup), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt, then taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  7. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra rich hot chocolate, use a higher percentage dark chocolate. Adjust sugar to your preference and consider adding a cinnamon stick or a hint of cayenne pepper for a unique twist.
