Preparation
- Crumble the entire package of Oreo cookies (cream filling included) into fine crumbs using a food processor or by crushing them in a Ziploc bag.
- Combine the Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese in a bowl, mixing until a smooth, dough-like consistency is achieved.
Assembly & Chilling
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Refrigerate the Oreo balls for at least 30 minutes until firm, which helps them hold their shape during dipping.
Dipping & Decorating
- Melt the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl according to package directions, adding coconut oil or shortening to thin if necessary.
- Dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted green candy, ensuring full coverage, and then place it back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Immediately press a red heart sprinkle onto each truffle before the candy coating sets.
- Refrigerate the truffles again for 15-20 minutes until the coating is completely set.
Notes
For best results, make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature for a smooth truffle base. If using white candy melts, ensure your green food coloring is oil-based to prevent seizing. Small red heart sprinkles provide the perfect touch for the Grinch theme!
