  • 1.5 lbs Chicken Thighs or Breasts boneless, skinless (thighs recommended for juiciness)
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 4-5 Garlic freshly minced
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce use tamari for gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil optional
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch or Flour cornstarch for gluten-free
  • 1/4 cup Water or Chicken Broth
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper
Optional Garnish
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

  • Large Skillet or Frying Pan

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Pat chicken dry and season with salt and pepper. If using breasts, slice into thinner cutlets.
  2. Whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch with water or broth until smooth.
  3. Sear chicken in olive oil for 4-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (165°F/74°C). Cook in batches if necessary.
  4. Remove chicken, reduce heat to medium-low, and pour in the sauce. Simmer, stirring constantly, for 2-3 minutes until thickened and glossy.
  5. Return chicken to the pan, coat thoroughly in sauce, and simmer for 1-2 minutes to warm through.
  6. Transfer chicken and sauce to a platter, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired, and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in a little soy sauce and garlic for 30 minutes before cooking. Adjust the amount of garlic and honey to your taste. Serve with rice and a steamed vegetable for a complete meal.
