Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare four 12-14 inch pieces of aluminum foil.
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
Assemble Packets
- Place one salmon fillet in the center of each foil square, then drizzle with 1 teaspoon of olive oil.
- Divide minced garlic, fresh dill, and 1-2 lemon slices among the salmon pieces; arrange asparagus around the salmon if using.
Bake and Serve
- Seal the foil packets by folding the longer sides down tightly, then folding in the shorter sides to create a steam-circulating enclosure.
- Place packets on a baking sheet and bake for 12-18 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
- Carefully open the packets, being mindful of steam, and serve the salmon with a fresh lemon wedge.
Notes
For best results, use fresh salmon. Adjust baking time based on the thickness of the fillet; thicker fillets may require a few extra minutes. Be cautious when opening the foil packets as the steam will be hot.
