Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan by greasing and flouring it or lining with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ½ cup granulated sugar.
- In a separate medium bowl, combine the melted butter (¼ cup), milk, egg, and vanilla extract, whisking until well blended.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spread evenly, and bake for 35-45 minutes until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the bread bakes, melt ½ cup of butter in one small bowl and in another, mix together ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for the topping.
- Once baked, remove the bread, immediately invert it onto a wire rack, and while warm, brush with melted butter.
- Generously sprinkle and press the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the entire loaf, then allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Ensure not to overmix the batter for a tender crumb. Brushing the warm bread with butter helps the cinnamon-sugar adhere better.
