  • whisk
  • spoon or spatula
  • pastry brush

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan by greasing and flouring it or lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ½ cup granulated sugar.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, combine the melted butter (¼ cup), milk, egg, and vanilla extract, whisking until well blended.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spread evenly, and bake for 35-45 minutes until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. While the bread bakes, melt ½ cup of butter in one small bowl and in another, mix together ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for the topping.
  7. Once baked, remove the bread, immediately invert it onto a wire rack, and while warm, brush with melted butter.
  8. Generously sprinkle and press the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the entire loaf, then allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Ensure not to overmix the batter for a tender crumb. Brushing the warm bread with butter helps the cinnamon-sugar adhere better.
