Classic Chocolate Peppermint Fudge

This classic chocolate peppermint fudge is easy to make and perfect for the holidays. It is rich, minty, and wonderfully festive.

Ingredients
  

Fudge Base
  • 1 can Sweetened condensed milk (14-ounce)
  • 2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 ounces)
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter (4 tablespoons)
Flavor and Topping
  • 1 teaspoon Peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup Crushed candy canes (finely crushed)
  • Pinch Salt

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Spatula
  • 8x8 inch pan

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, melt sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
Flavoring
  1. Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract and a pinch of salt until well combined.
Setting
  1. Pour the mixture into an 8x8 inch parchment-lined pan, sprinkle with crushed candy canes, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until firm. Once firm, cut into 1-inch squares.

Notes

For easier cutting, lightly grease your knife with non-stick spray.
