Preparation
- Place Chex cereal in a large, sturdy bowl and prepare a large zip-top bag for later.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt white chocolate chips and softened cream cheese in 30-second intervals until smooth, stirring well after each interval.
- Stir cherry extract into the melted mixture, and add optional red food coloring until you reach your desired pink shade.
- Pour the cherry cheesecake mixture over the cereal and gently fold with a rubber spatula until evenly coated.
- Transfer the coated cereal to the zip-top bag, add powdered sugar, and seal the bag with some air inside.
- Gently toss and shake the bag until all cereal pieces are thoroughly coated in powdered sugar.
- Spread the puppy chow onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and let it cool and set for at least 15-20 minutes, or longer in the refrigerator until firm.
Notes
For best results, make sure your cream cheese is softened to ensure it melts smoothly with the white chocolate. If you prefer a less sweet puppy chow, you can reduce the amount of powdered sugar or skip the red food coloring if you don't want the pink hue.
